I found someone to metaphorically 'take me under their wing'.

It's bothersome, an Angel needing a sponsor of some kind, but it was that or end up in the Zoo again.

[ He hadn't had one, and he hadn't wanted one and now he does and as nice as the Dominant is he's still kinda pissed about it. ]

[ it only occurs to her now, after he'd mentioned something, that she might have offered one to him had she realized he was still lacking — but that's not what she needs to concern herself with. ]

I do realize you're at more of a disadvantage than I am, given the difference in our designations.
But there are small ways to assert yourself. Setting your hard limits, for instance.

[ someone needs to teach him this, otherwise - he's a follower, orders are what he's used to, and he'll end up doing quite a bit he doesn't particularly want to, just because he's been told to. ]
